You will need rope if you want to make captives of any of your combat captures. One unit of rope is used per captive, and is lost when you sell them on or incorporate them into your household. So make sure you stock up!
At the moment you can only buy rope (five at a time) at Redhaven Market and Kira's Merch in Ikaanos, and Luke's Empire in Kahill Outpost up the Red River; Hamah Market, Roo's General Store and Aimee's Goods are currently out of stock.
