Hermetic Mysteris originated on Earth as a scholarly pursuit within the Historical Society, where scholars studied its philosophical and alchemical principles. After the Severance, the cataclysmic isolation of the Ikaanos colony from Earth, these teachings evolved into a secretive cult during the Dark Age. Initially appealing to the intellectual elite and rogue artisans, Hermetic Mysteris transformed into a clandestine society led by the enigmatic "Masters of the Veil" with little known about its members or inner workings.

The cult’s core tenet, "As above, so below", reflects the belief that Raana’s cosmic and terrestrial forces can be harnessed for spiritual and material transformation. Practitioners, known as Adepts, view Raana’s harsh environment as a crucible for unlocking arcane secrets tied to alien ruins, which hint at the planet’s connection to extraterrestrial intelligences. Drawing from Earth texts on alchemy, astrology, and Kabbalah brought by early colonists, Adepts harness Raana’s rare minerals to create alchemical elixirs that heighten their physical vitality and mental clarity, strengthening qualities like resilience and spiritual insight.
