Not much is known about Averil's parents, though rumors are her mother was a dinaar addict that could no longer care for the child. Even so, for a while, fortune smiled on young Averil as she was taken in and raised by a loving elderly couple on a farmstead just outside Ikaanos. Her caretakers noticed there was more to the young girl than meets the eye. Averil began showing signs of genius and, noticing the child's brilliant mind, the caretakers enrolled her at the academy to study science and mathematics. The professors also noticed Averil's genius as she challenged even the brightest professors with her speedy ways of solving theoretical problems.
However, her newfound fame as a prodigy saw her fortunes quickly take a turn for the worse. In the "Nadarian-Ekker controversies" of 2484, the young girl was manipulated and used as a pawn between the rivaling professors. In the end, she was on the losing side and banished from the academy along with her guardian. The loving caretakers who raised Averil also died in this period, leaving Averil to fend for herself.
It was at this point the 14 year old girl ended up in a prison camp on the outside ranches of Ikaanos as a "chainer." For four years she endured and was toughened by the desires of sadistic guards who had their way with her and others. She saw and experienced some of the worst horrors that befall young slaves in Ikaanos. It made her stronger, and her skirmishes developed her into a worthy fighter.
Eventually, she was sold to the Kymanto syndicate awaiting her new fate. On the outside she is young and innocent, yet under the innocent face of the young girl lies a brilliant mind corrupted with deep-seated hatred and vengeance burning within her against the slaver chieftain.
