Neoplatonism is a reclusive, esoteric cult that arose in the fragmented society of Ikaanos following the Severance, attracting a small, eclectic following of scholars, disgraced nobles, and cosmic seekers. Unlike Hermetism’s alchemical materialism, Neoplatonists venerate the One, an ineffable, transcendent force believed to unify Raana’s chaotic existence. Led by the enigmatic figure known only as the Archon, a charismatic sage of ambiguous origins, the cult is notorious for its rivalry with Hermetism, whose focus on physical alchemy they deem a profane distortion of cosmic truth. Membership is gender-neutral but exclusive, with initiates enduring grueling mental and spiritual trials to join. Neoplatonists are whispered to wield prescient abilities through their practice of Theurgy, a mystical art that purportedly allows communion with Raana’s alien intelligences. While such claims remain unverified, their cryptic influence fuels both awe and suspicion across Ikaanos. Neoplatonists hold that Raana’s alien ruins and celestial anomalies are manifestations of the One, a singular, eternal essence that binds the cosmos. Their doctrine, "Ascent to the One," teaches that through disciplined meditation, asceticism, and Theurgy—ritualistic communion with higher intelligences—devotees can transcend mortal limitations and glimpse universal truths.

The Archon, revered as a near-divine intermediary, guides these rituals, channeling the One’s will through cryptic prophecies delivered in trance-like states. The cult’s members believe the Archon’s visions stem from a direct link to Raana’s ancient alien architects, though skeptics attribute this to madness induced by the planet’s harsh isolation. Central to their practices is the Emanation Rite, a solitary vigil in Raana’s crystal caves where devotees fast and chant under the guidance of Theurgic sigils, seeking alignment with the planet’s cosmic energies. They craft Aetheric Dust, a potent substance ground from rare crystals near alien ruins, which, when inhaled during Theurgic ceremonies, induces vivid visions of cosmic patterns—though at the risk of mental fragmentation. Unlike Hermetism’s material elixirs, Neoplatonists reject physical alchemy, focusing instead on Theurgy to unlock latent psychic gifts, such as foresight or dream-walking. Their clandestine gatherings under Raana’s twin moons, orchestrated by the Archon, are said to subtly shape Ikaanos’ political and social currents, cementing their enigmatic reputation.
