Gunpowder

A keg of gunpowder.

A material essential for crafting most kinds of Ammunition and making explosives, freely available for purchase from numerous vendors (listed below).

It is manufactured from materials readily available and easily prepared on Raana: potassium nitrate ("saltpeter") extracted from dung & urine in straw beds with wood ash, and this mixed with charcoal (as fuel) and sulphur (to reduce ignition temperature). So you can make it yourself: if you purchase a sawmill (e.g. Darkmere), and install a Burner ($150,000), this will convert 20% of your daily harvested Wood units into gunpowder units.

• Purchase from: Walton's Smithery, Belial Guns, Haruki's Store, Transit Department, traveling merchants at Hunter's Oasis occasionally.
• Base Cost: per unit from Walton's' ($5), in 200-unit kegs ($280) if you can find them, or in barrels of 5,000 units ($30,000 if Ikaanos Prosperity <5, $25,000 if 5–14, $20,000 if 15–74, $17,000 if 75–89, $14,000 if $90+; $1,500 cheaper at Haruki's, and a further $1,500 cheaper there if you have removed the Black Scorpion from Raikan).
• Sell to: Redhaven Market
• Sale Value: $2 per unit, +$1 if Prosperity <5, -$1 if Prosperity 75+.
• Obtain from: Mass-produce in a Sawmill with a Burner; sometimes get as a reward from Torilei (25 units) and Hannes (250 units) in Drenner Village; occasionally find a few units when scavenging in old industrial areas.
• Uses: Crafting Ammunition: 9mm (1 unit per), shells (2), 30-06 (2), 7·62 (2), ·45 (2), ·50cal (3), grenades (4). Also used to make charges to blast through doors (500 units required).
