The Dorms

Overview

The Dorms is a room located in the Basement of the Player's House. It is where the player's household NPCs sleep by default.

Upgrade

The player can perform the following upgrades on the Dorms:

  • Level I (Starting): "The Dorms" is a 200 square meter room used as a sweatshop by whomever lived here before your family moved in. Your brother turned this into a sleeping room for his planned slave empire. It is currently a dilapidated mess that smells of mold and rotten furniture. Daily happiness: -1 (down to 60)
  • Renovate ($5000): "The Dorms" is a 200 square meter room used as a sweatshop by whomever lived here before your family moved in. After an extensive renovation, this room now offers three dozen comfortable beds and private storage facilities. Daily Happiness: +1
  • Level II ($50,000): "The Dorms" is a 200 square meter room used as a sweatshop by whomever lived here before your family moved in. After an extensive renovation, this room now offers over 70 comfortable beds and private storage facilities. Increases household's NPC capacity to 80.
  • Level III ($50,000): Same description as Level II. Increases household's NPC capacity to 96.

Appliances

The player can add the following appliance to the Dorms:

  • Cooking facilities ($1,200)
  • Sound system ($4,000)
  • Sound system with a dedicated ENSYS unit ($5,000) Increases daily happiness increase by 1

Furniture

The player can add the following to the Dorms (furniture purchasable from the Carpenter):

  • Sofa or Luxury Sofa (One): Luxury sofa gives +1 Happiness per day to occupants.
  • Arm chair (Three). No benefit.
  • Bookshelf (Ten): If 3 or more shelves, there is a 1% chance each night for each occupant to gain +1 in either Intelligence, Academics, or Science (cap: 60). Gains are not per shelf; it's 0% for 1 or 2 shelves, 1% if more.
  • Rare Artifacts (Ten).

Rename

The player can rename the Dorms into something that he prefers.
