Background

A descendant of the once influential House of Boulay, Nicole possesses much of that same rebellious and ambitious drive that once made her ancestors a notable House in Ikaanos. It's no small feat that the Boulays led the infamous 2407 uprising, even though it led to their demise.

Nicole grew up helping out with her family's leather tanning business and although they struggled like most of Ikaano's underclass, it seems Nicole also developed a growing sense of independence. At 14 year's old, she enrolled in The Academy, proving herself to be a bright student and eventually earned a lecturer's assignment.

It did not take long for Nicole's rebel spirit and independence to cause her to cut her tenure short at the Academy due to what she felt was an atmosphere that stifles creativity.. Nicole left the Academy and pursued her writing and intellectual passion by joining the field of journalism as a reporter at The White Herald newspaper. It was there that she was charmed into a turbulent and abusive affair with the married head director, Geoffrey Ablon.

After the illicit affair between the two ended, Geoffrey Ablon set out to destroy whatever was left of Nicole's reputation and life. Nicole's determination remained unbroken and she set out to restart her life, even unwisely borrowing a large amount of Raanic dollars from freebooters to re-enter The Academy. When the debt payments became too much for her, and with the powerful Geoffrey Ablon still pursuing his vendetta, she was forced to consider that servitude may be her only option going forward.

Nicole's dream of pursuing her journalistic passion remains; she longs to challenge the powers that be and to be in charge of her pursuits. Nothing would give her more joy than toppling Geoffrey Ablon. Time will tell the fate of this House of Boulay descendant.

Nicole's apartment

Nicole lives in one of the Donwac apartments located in the Crow's End district. This was once a cherished uptown block for wealthy academy students. Now, it's just a crumbling heap of dilapidated apartments which many denaar addicts call home.

News office

Reaching Amiable+ with Nicole enables the MC to build her a News Office in one of his rooms. Doing so will lock Nicole's assigned profession to News Reporter. The News Office can potentially generate a sizeable income, based on Nicole's education, Happiness and what's currently going on in the world. It can also affect the Prosperity, Control and Corruption of Ikaanos - depending on which of several possible editorial lines (Democratic, Authoritarian, Libertarian, Rebel, Anarchist or Neutral) is followed by her publication (this choice is either determined by the MC's preference or by Nicole's political affiliation, determined by her and the MCs household's stats). Nicole will also accumulate Political Power (based on her Discipline, skills, Prestige, Fame and Willpower, and the MCs Influence and Power Value), which determines how much effect her publication will have.

To build the News Office go to Manage > Manage Home > News Office.

You must reach the following prerequisites to enable that option:

• Nicole's Affection must be Amiable+.
• The player must have $8,000+ in total wealth and have asked her about her Hopes and Dreams.
• Nicole cannot have ANY OTHER active assignment.
