Seven Great Houses, organizations built up around influential families or old companies, control much of Ikaanos' production facilities, trade markets, and social entrepreneurships today. The Great Houses resemble independent kingdoms that officially swear allegiance to the Spheremasters but are powerful enough to act on their own.
