Background

Tuner Jackson is a once-famous guitarist who is now wanted for embezzlement. The player can capture him should he take on Tuner's bounty (Town Hall in Hamilton Square).

Character Traits

He can also get (random chance):

Special Ability: Manager

Tuner has a unique trait which means that as long as long as his Affection is Friendly+ towards you, and if you pay him enough, and he's not assigned to any other Job, he will spend his time training any of your suitable female NPCs (Willpower 10+; not Shy; preferably Extroverts) in Performance and Dancing, in their spare time (until they reach his own skill levels). He will do better at this (work harder) the more you pay him (make his Allowance at least $50/day, but he does best on $1,000 a day!) For full details see the description on the NPC's Traits page.

Note that Tuner can also train Performance and Dancing if given a job as an Educator assigned the Performance template. And Tuner will perform this job better than any other NPC can (he ignores prerequisites for Charisma and Starlet trait increases). The differences between Tuner training others as an Educator versus Tuner training others as a Manager are summarised below.

Tuner as Performance Educator Tuner as Manager
NPCs trained Those assigned (one or more), regardless of sex, traits or Willpower. Whole Household, but Females only, and not if Shy, and not if Willpower <10
Skills, Attributes and Traits trained Performance and Dancing skills, plus Charisma, plus Starlet trait. Performance and Dancing skills only
Trainee's daily improvement chance Depends on many factors but could be above 50%, or down to zero, for each skill/attribute/trait. For Performance skill: 5%, 15%, 20% or 30% depending on Salary paid Tuner. For Dancing skill, HALF this. Extroverts get additional +10%.
Salary Required Zero, if Slave $50 minimum, with results increasing at $300, $500 and $1,000 per day
Skill caps and restrictions Performance capped at 100; Dancing can reach whatever the Educator's skill is (Tuner starts with 70). Performance can reach whatever Tuner's skill is (starts at 105), Dancing is capped at 75 even if Tuner increases his skill beyond 70.
Attribute and Trait considerations Raises Charisma even if trainee has < 60 Happiness, and without requiring Free Thinking template, unlike other Educators. Trains Starlet in non-Extroverts, unlike other Educators. Tuner as Manager means you don't have option to train non-Extroverts as Starlets, and will reduce your options for raising NPC Charisma.
Additional considerations Takes one of your Educator slots Frees up an Educator slot

Starting stats

Tuner is very smart, and has very high Dexterity, and Charisma. The assault rifle he wields is mostly for show however, as he can't handle the recoil.
