Your household has high walls and a guard tower for a reason: there are over 10,000 bandits in Ikaanos, and the Skyguard's enforcement of law and order is often thin. During times of political turmoil, and poverty, there are dozens of bandit gangs who will try their hand at robbing households - starting in the outer, poorer districts such as Kasey's Park and Stokke Hills, and moving inwards through Redhaven into Whitehaven and beyond as conditions in the city deteriorate.
There is a good chance that your household will get raided multiple times during the game - particularly if it is stuffed with riches, or poorly defended. However, these raids aren't aways bad: they are a good training opportunity for your assigned guards, and can be a source of considerable loot (particularly weapons) if you defeat the raiders. They do a considerable amount of damage to your property though, cost a lot in ammunition, and of course cause injuries, and even death.
Chance of being attacked
There should only be a risk of raids when city Control falls below 40. Then the chance of a raid scales primarily based on a household's wealth and power values – wealthier, less powerful houses are more likely to be targeted by raiders. Chance of attack is 1% each night, +/- the following:
| Difficulty Level | Sandbox = -30 | Normal = -20 | Grimdark = +5 | ||
| Days in the game | 1–5 = -8 | 6–15 = -3 | |||
| Control | 10–19 = +3 | 5–9 = +11 | 1–4 = +16 | <0 = +26 | |
| Prosperity | <10 = +5 | ||||
| Gold bars | 1,000–9,999 bars = +1 | 10,000+ bars = +2 | |||
| Silver bars | 10,000+ bars = +1 | ||||
| Cash | <$2,000 = -3 | $2k–$10k = -1 | $50k–$100k = +1 | $100k–$10m = +2 | >$10 million = +4 |
| Power Value | 500+ = -8 | $1 million+ IF P.V. <100 = +3 | |||
| Influence | <1,000 = -3 | 1,000–1,499 = -2 | |||

Chance of repelling attack
Households with higher Guard Pool have higher chances of successfully repelling raiders; a guard pool of 120 is sufficient to repel 99% of raids.
Guard Pool is the sum of all of the assigned guards' Guard Values, plus that of the Captain, plus 0–25 for Wall Defences. The MC also contributes his prowess to the Guard Pool during raids (guard pool value addition using strength and combat skills).
If the household's Guard Pool value is greater than the attack strength of the raiders, you will probably succeed in fending off the attack - though you will still sustain injuries. Most raider groups are less than 100 in strength (each bandit might contribute 5–15 attack strength, depending on weapons, armor and skills – calculated similarly to Guard Value).
Successful defences
Successfully defended raids have the following effects:
- Random health losses for guards and/or the MC. Note: on Grimdark mode, this may be lethal!
- Assigned Guards may improve Ranged and Melee combat skills.
- Variable ammo costs will be incurred (money will be automatically deducted to replace spent ammo rather than reducing your ammo stocks).
- Bandits may be killed, reducing the Bandit strength in Ikaanos. (No captives are gained.)
- Dead bandits may leave loot behind, in the form of weapons and Merchandise - in potentially substantial quantities!
- Household Disrepair: 5-15
Being raided
If the raiders successfully breach your defences, they will loot you, causing the following effects:
- Random health losses for guards and/or the MC, as above. Note: on Grimdark mode, this may be lethal!
- Surviving Guards may improve Ranged and Melee combat skills.
- Ammunition cost, as above (could be several hundred dollars).
- Up to 90% of your cash will be stolen (capped at $28,000).
- Approximately 10% of your Gold bars will be lost.
- Approximately 10% of your Silver will be looted.
- 25%–50% of your Merchandise will be stolen IF sufficient raiders survive to carry it away (raider strength 30+).
- 25%–50% of your Food will may be stolen, IF Ikaanos' Prosperity is under 30, and IF sufficient raiders survive to carry it away (raider strength 30+).
- Your larger Gardens might be damaged (random chance; Grimdark difficulty only).
- Additional Household damage, bringing total Disrepair to 15-30.
- Loot taken from you will boost the strength of the Bandit faction in Ikaanos.
How to avoid being raided
If you're not at home, you won't get raided. So if staying overnight at Shunsuke's, or camping, you will dodge raids.
If you pay protection money to raiders at Marston Fort they will block 90% of raid attempts.
Alternatively, you can do things to help raise Ikaanos' Control value to 40+.
However considering the loot which can be gained from defeating raids, plus the training value, some warlords might want to encourage raids rather than discourage them.
