Captain of the Guard

The Captain is the leader and trainer of your security forces. Their personal Guard Value will contribute to your Household's Guard Pool, and in addition they will train your guards' Discipline and Melee and Ranged Combat skills (all up to 80). They will also join efforts to prevent slaves from escaping, and repel household raiders.

Captain's Skill

The Captain's skill is used to determine how effective he/she is at training his/her subordinates.

Skill = ( Ranged + Melee + Discipline + Warrior trait value ) / 4 .

Modifiers:

  • Age below 17: -15.
  • WILLPOWER below 30: -15.
  • Stature: -10 if body-type is petite or very petite.
  • Warrior: +15 if Warrior trait is in effect (value 70+).
  • Military fame: -15 if Warfame < 15, or +10 if 200+, or +20 if 600+.

Training success rate:

Each day at midnight, the game determines if the Captain was successful in training that day. That is determined by comparing the Captain's final modified Skill to a random number between 1 and 120 for Ranged/Melee skill, and between 1 and 150 for Discipline. if the guard's Ranged, Melee or Discipline is above 50, they get a penalty (-20) for training that skill. Then, if Skill is greater than the random number (1 to 120~150), successful training will occur.

More effects

  • The Captain will add his/hers guard power to the guard pool.
  • The Captain will reduce the chance of a slave escaping your household, based on his Skill:
    • If the Captain's Skill is above 20, reduce the Escape chance by 1 point.
    • If the Captain's Skill is above 40, reduce the Escape chance by 1 additional point.
    • If the Captain's Skill is above 60, reduce the Escape chance by 1 additional point.
    • If the Captain's Skill is above 80, reduce the Escape chance by 1 additional point.
