Caitlin is the only child of a once-prominent medical family that began its practice on Marston Avenue, attending to the needs of the impoverished local community. However, as the family's reputation grew, the upper echelons of Ikaanian society began to seek them out for treatment. After a series of ill-fated expeditions to the remote jungle, her family was rendered destitute.

Although she lacks a certificate from a recognized medical authority, Caitlin's skills are functionally equivalent to a licensed physician, based on the years she spent treating patients at her parents' side. She is dedicated to helping others through the practice of medicine – especially the poor and the vulnerable, and she regards other undertakings as a waste of her time and talent.
