Background

Another of the staff at Furry's Tavern who the MC has a chance of recruiting. Valerie is multitalented, fit, young, beautiful, and charismatic. Tribal tattoos cover her body indicating a foreign heritage, while a heavy collar ensures she would be recognized and returned if she escaped. She performs, heavily guarded, obviously furious and hating every moment of it, about once every five nights at the tavern, as Furry keeps the night's entertainment on rotation.

Acquisition

If you carouse at Furry's, on nights when Valerie is performing, on the second round of drinks, IF you socialize, there is a 1 in 4 chance that you'll meet an old friend of yours who is mesmerised by her. To try to impress you he lets slip that that "old man Randall at Dockgrave" told him there is a secret about Valerie's past which could lead to "an old inheritance, worth a bodyweight of gold". If this happens again on a subsequent night, your friend, now drunkenly despairing of ever having access to Valerie and so choosing to believe that the amount that Furry might give her up for might be greater than that of any treasure obtained by having her, reveals that the secret relates to some of her tattoos, which apparently constitute a treasure map. If you then talk to Mr. Furry, he indicates that though he was until recently somewhat infatuated with Valerie, he is now getting tired of her, and is willing to sell her - for a high price.

Quest

Valerie has a personal quest "The Borsow Gal", which can be unlocked if you buy her from Furry, raise her Affection to Amiable+, and ask her about her background.

Requirements: Affection Amiable+, Academics skill 65+, and Valerie as a Follower.

Details: Sufficient academic knowledge will reveal the Aesir/tribalist-inspired symbols in some of Valerie's tattoos as being a map pointing to the wetlands in central Ikaanos city. A POI on your Wetlands map will then display - but only when you hover your mouse over the tomb itself, and only if Valerie is with you. The tomb is small, overgrown, and requires more of Valerie's knowledge to explore.

This reveals "the Tomb of The Cursed One"! And if you can find the secret lever, you can enter it - where you will then be attacked by Lord Aaltor - "the prowler in the tomb".

Loot: Four ceramic vases containing 105 Gold bars (which should be enough to cover the cost of buying Valerie off Furry), and probably also 6-10 Felani mushrooms - psychedelic fungi native to Raana, which can fetch a good price at market.

Variables: setting $quest_valerie = 6 will add the wetlands POI. And mushrooms =ownfelani.

Variables: Valerie is npc.av41, and quest_valerie 0 through 8 tracks the quest which leads to her acquisition and then to that of the treasure she holds a clue to.
