South Redhaven Boardwalks
South Redhaven Boardwalks

Where South Redhaven meets the Red River is a bustling, picturesque fishing port and marketplace, full of interesting sights, sounds, smells, tastes, and people.

It is a good spot to visit, alone or with Followers, to hang out and relax, and be open to interesting experiences. Exploring will take an hour, but will leave your followers happier, and there may be other benefits too.

It appears as a "POI" only during daylight hours and when the weather is good, and is visitable once per day. And note that once the ten scripted encounters there have been exhausted, it will vanish as an interactable location - though the place remains.

The results of boardwalk excursions are discoverable in a fixed order, and are listed here ‒ so players who want to cheat and peek, click "Expand" below.

Results of each hour perambulating along the boardwalks in good daytime weather, in order:

  1. After about 30 minutes, you bump into Doc Merringer, a retired physician who lives in a small dockside hovel not far from the main boardwalks. You remember him from your younger days and how he used to tell interesting stories to the local Redhaven kids. He was old back then. Now, he looks ancient and you';re surprised he's still alive. Doc Merringer is very happy to see one of the "red rats", as he used to call the local kids, and you get pulled into yet another story about a local anecdote before the aging man leaves you alone and returns home. Academics +1 (cap: 60)
  2. If Bud is in your Household, skip to next entry. But if Bud is not one of your crew: After about 20 minutes, while you're busy viewing the relaxing scenery, you bump into an old "acquaintance", Bud Walton, who seems very happy to meet you. Bud is the nephew of Mr. Walton, the owner of Redhaven's finest (and only) weapon store, where he's currently staying while searching for work. Bud: "Yo! My man. How's things going over at your casa? If you need a good bro you know where to find me, okay? I'm ready anytime. And I can score some free ammo from my uncle's storage if we ever need any. Peace, yo."
  3. After about twenty minutes, while walking past 'Speakers Grove' close to Redhaven market, you become spellbound by one of the local Elder Cult hierophants preaching from an improvised stage. What he says fills you with marvel and wonder. Science +1 (cap: 60)
  4. Your little adventure is a delightful experience and you fully absorb the scenery and the uniqueness of Redhaven; the colorful candy wagons, chanting Moon monks, tribal mercenaries carrying exotic weaponry, and the smell of smoked fish. The walk is otherwise uneventful.
  5. The adventure proves to be a pretty strenuous effort, especially after a miscalculated detour into The Docks district. You lose 5 temporary Stamina points - but increase your maximum STAMINA +1 (uncapped)!
  6. After walking past Redhaven market, you turn east and take a detour through the bustling merchant district sandwiched between Hamilton Square and North Redhaven. While walking through a particularly crowded street, you're targeted by an urchin thief who tries to lighten your pockets. If you spot his sleight of hand (Intelligence check -5), the pickpocket is able to scurry away into an alley, but your bag of golden dollars remains thankfully intact. Otherwise $50 is removed from your Inventory, and the boy is long gone before you notice.
  7. If Ayden is in your Household, skip to next entry. But if Ayden is not one of your crew: While walking past the misplaced grove of trees at Redhaven market and up onto the boardwalks again, you're able to spot the famous armor-clad mercenary Ayden Rhodes standing casually at the pier, looking out over the crimson-colored Irendorian sea. This renowned war hero is usually occupying one of the pools at Virax Springs on Emerald Island, while not hired by a warlord or Spheremaster in need of his special skills. Bud (whisper): "What the fuck's his problem? Walkin' around fully armored like he's someone special." Ansel (whisper): "By the fucking Moons. Look at that guy. Walking around fully armored, acting like a fucking hero or something. Nah. Not my kind of dude." Your walk is otherwise uneventful.
  8. Bud.
  9. Bud.
  10. Bud.

There is nothing more that can be gained from further visits to the boardwalks currently.
