Slave hunting is a well-established occupation in Ikaanos, providing the republic and the Great Houses with a constant stream of cheap workers. They're also a vital supplier for the growing entertainment industry.

Slave hunters often work in unison with slave trainers, hunting specific targets for a chosen patron. Certain landowning slave hunters also act as slave trainers as a way of cutting out the middleman.

Capturing slaves

The MC and his crew are able to capture slaves in combat or through special quests/POIs. Captured enemies are called Shackled slaves before being processed at a Slave Market or Home location.

The MC can hold a maximum of his Party +1 shackled slaves. A lonely MC can thus hold two slaves before being forced to process them.

A combat enemy has to be incapacitated before they can be claimed as a slave. Using a blunt melee weapon such as a staff or whipping cane for the final blow increases the chance of incapacitating an enemy, while heavy weapons such as greatswords or plasma rifles almost guarantee the enemy ends up dead.

Incapacitation chance

There is a base chance of 11% for human enemies reduced to 0 or less Health Points to be Incapacitated rather than killed. This is modified by the lethality of the weapon used to deliver the final blow, as follows:

Melee Weapon weapon modifier incapacitation chance Ranged Weapon weapon modifier incapacitation chance
Fists + 85 96% Crossbow 0 11%
Cane/whip + 89 100% Pistol 0 11%
Combat Staff + 70 81% Pipe Gun 0 11%
Sledgehammer + 35 46% Remington Rifle 0 11%
Dagger/Knife + 20 31% Shotgun 0 11%
Sword + 15 26% Revolver - 4 7%
Spear 0 11% Automatic Rifle - 5 6%
Wakizashi 0 11% R55 Revolver - 4 7%
Power Katana 0 11% ·50 cal Rifle - 10 1%
Greatsword + 15 26% Grenade Launcher 0 11%
Great Axe + 15 26% Coilgun - 8 3%
Ice Dragon + 70 81% Plasma Rifle - 8 3%
Sacred Mallet 0 11% Cybercannon 0 11%
Sword of Azuk 0 11% Minigun 0 11%
Bofors Gun - 100 - 89%
Nemesis - 10 1%

Plus if MC has Manhunter trait: +15% (this bonus only applies to the MC, not to his followers).

Note that some enemies can not be captured, and will die rather than be incapacitated even if the final blow is delivered with a cane: non-humans, the primary target of most Bounties (to represent you handing them in), enemies in fights where you would not be able to take captives (e.g. somewhere you have to run from afterwards), enemies that you would not be able to sell at auction or own as a legal slave (e.g. serving officials of the Republic who were lawfully performing their duty), and a few other special cases.

After combat, the MC has the option to add Incapacitated enemies to his Shackled Captives pool. Doing so consumes one unit of Rope per slave. If the MC runs out of ropes he'll be unable to add more enemies to his pool.

Processing shackled captives

The MC can inspect (PROCESS) his wares at a human goods market or at his home. The following districts are counted as markets:

After the process has been initiated, the MC must choose to either free, quick-sell, or add the captive to his household.

The "quick sell" price thus available is an offer from the nearest slave dealer, which represents a safe lowest price that slave might fetch at an immeditat auction. It will on average be lower than you will get if auctioning the captive yourself, but will save you some time - and with experience you will be able to spot the slaves for which the quick-sell offer is likely more than you would get at auction (generally when it is .

Auctioning Slaves

If you want to auction the slave yourself you will probably make more money (possibly much more) than selling to a slave dealer. But it will take an hour for the auction, and you have to add the slave to your household first. When auctioning a slave you can choose which slave market to sell them at - and note that the markets will sometimes pay different prices for the same slave, because they cater for slave masters who have different uses in mind. For example, Watery Eyes wants more manual laborers.

The full valuation breakdown is here: Slave Market Auction - Base Price Calculations.

Freeing a slave belonging to the Bandit faction will return him to the world Bandit pool.

Influence gains from selling slaves

Selling slaves for above $5,000+ will bring you to the attention of Ikaanian society and gain you some social Influence - especially if the slaves are beautiful, intelligent, corrupt or otherwise desirable. The Influence yield is not just down to sale price but is also directly affected by societal factors as well as by the slave's personal characteristics - despite these factors and characteristics being amongst those which determine the sale price. So in effect these particular factors and characteristics get counted twice.

Slave characteristics Influence gain
Sale price at auction

(minimum = $5,000)

= sale price / 30

(i.e. min. 167)

Intelligence 80+ +100
Beauty 80+ +100
Charisma 80+ +100
Virgin - vaginal +100
Virgin - anal +100
Ikaanos Liberty <10 x 2
Ikaanos Liberty 10-29 x 2
Ikaanos Liberty 30-49 x 1
Ikaanos Liberty 50-69 x 0.5
Ikaanos Liberty 70+ x 0.25
Corruption 60-79, IF Ikaanos Corruption 50+ +50
Corruption 80-99, IF Ikaanos Corruption 50+ +75
Corruption 100+, IF Ikaanos Corruption 50+ +100

To reach the final figure for Influence granted, calculate in the order given in the table: (1) if sale price 5,000+ proceed otherwise abort; (2) divide sale price by 30; (3) add for Intelligence, Beauty, Charisma and Virginity; (4) multiply for Ikaanos' societal Liberty; (5) add any extra for the Slave's Corruption.

Unsellable slaves?

Some captives may be so unappealing to slave dealers that they will offer you nothing for them, and you will have to either add the captives to your household or release them. This generally means people seemingly very ill or diseased, such as "Prowlers". In this case, if you have enough Influence (6,000+) for Hunt Research to deal with you, you have the alternative of offering them there, for research or experiments. They will pay good money ($7,500) for particularly unusual specimens. What happens to such specimens, you do not know.

To access this option, Interact with the captive once they are in your household: "Actions" > "Project Erebos". You will have to have talked to Hunt Research beforehand, and must have sufficient Influence.
