Overview

Influence is an in-game currency. It is a broad term, used to describe the player's power and connections throughout Ikaanos. Influence is an important part of the player's growing empire, as a high level of influence makes others respect him and allows access to items and weapons forbidden by Ikaanos' laws. Certain areas of Ikaanos are only accessible to people with a certain level of Influence (e.g. 1,500+ for Emerald Island; 10,000+ for the Palace District), and certain quests and other opportunities are only unlocked at certain levels (e.g. 2,000+ to access the Velvet Rooms, 6,000+ for Hunt Research to buy Prowlers and other curiosities from you...).

Gaining Influence

The player can gain influence in many different ways:

DAILIES

  • Having a luxurious house.
  • Having extravagant spending habits (setting "Relish & Drinks" above "Basic" on the Food page of the Economy & Influence reports).
  • Owning an upgraded stable with Horses and Carriage (up to +12 per day).
  • Employing Maids (Each Maid adds +2 per day; double if they are Perfectionists).
  • Having a Head Maid who is a Workaholic (+4 per day).
  • Assigning a female NPC to work as a performer at the Golden Dragon (+2 per day).
  • Assigning NPCs to the Academy to study (+2 per day per fee-paying student).
  • Assigning NPCs to The Academy to Lecture as Professors (+4/day; just working there as a teacher isn't enough).
  • Having a Herald traveling Ikaanos to promote the player and their household (+2/day minimum; +20/day or more achievable).
  • Enrolling slaves/servants in external riding stables (up to +6 per day per girl).
  • Having Paragons as members of the Household.
  • Owning Aria Bianchi as a slave (+2 per day).
  • Having investments in legitimate businesses.
  • From vassalized factions.
  • The benefits of having read Books (+1 per Title completed, per day).
  • Having children who contribute positively to Ikaanos' development.
  • Thriving, in a poor Ikaanos (other Influence gains are doubled when Ikaanos is in poverty).

PER EVENT

  • Teaching at the Whitehaven Academy (can be daily, if the MC has the time).
  • Donating 200 rations to the orphanage (+100).
  • Donating at the Town Hall to pay for building military units (platoon: +2k, company: +10k, battalion: +50k, regiment: +120k).
  • Paying to spend time with the very expensive girls at The Velvet Room (+10 to +20).
  • The MC's team winning an arena combat.
  • One of the MC's gladiatrices winning a solo arena combat (max. 1 combat per day).
  • One of the MC's Household winning one of the frequent gymnastics competitions (700 for a Quarter Final, 2,000 for a Grand Final).
  • Winning poker at the Dockgrave tavern with a 850+ score (cap: 2k ish).
  • Selling valuable slaves at auction (e.g. +135 inf. for a slave netting $5,000; may vary).
  • Clearing bandits out of Fort Stokke or Marston Fort (+200 each time).
  • Hunting down bounties of all types (+50 or more per Bounty, depending on difficulty).
  • Releasing captives freed from the targets of certain bounties (+20).

ONE-OFFS

  • Completing Quests and tasks given by many people and factions across Ikaanos.
  • As a result of uncovering the first of the Secrets held by some captives.
  • From random events.
  • Having a luxurious Marriage.

Losing Influence

Similarly, the player can also lose influence in a variety of ways:

DAILIES

  • Having a run-down house.
  • Having maids who poorly perform their duties.
  • Being a member of the Aesir religion.
  • Having a number of wives in excess of the limit of the religion that the player is following.
  • Having offspring who contribute negatively to Ikaanos' development.
  • Associating with the bandits and criminals of Ikaanos.
  • Having investments in illegitimate business.
  • Living in a prosperous Ikaanos.

PER EVENT

  • Purchasing items and weapons that are off-limits to civilians.
  • Bringing prowlers to a combat.

ONE-OFFS

  • Some quest and dialogue outcomes may include Influence losses.
  • Through random events.
